    Growths on rat's ears??

I first noted these growths starting to grow on one of my rats ears about 3 weeks ago now. I wasn't worried until i found the first small growth on the ear of another rat today.

Any body know what these are? I have tryed researching the subject and the only thing I have come up with is that they could be caused by a rare form of rat mites.

Any body know for sure what these could be and how I can treat them?

    Thanks

    Re: Growths on rat's ears??

    Sarcoptic mange mites. www.ratguide.com

Treat with ivermectin horse paste and Frontline spray(NOT the concentrated drops). Generally 2 sprays per rat is good, then rub all over and let dry. Horse paste dose is uncooked grain of rice sized dose per rat per day for 2-4 weeks.

Clean all cage furniture with bleach and clean bedding often. Bake or freeze bedding before using. DO NOT spray it with any chemicals...

Be sure to treat all of the rats in the colony or it will come back.
