    My BPs first poo!

Hi guys, I am a new BP owner and this is my first post, but I do have to thank everyone as this was my most frequented site I came to while researching before getting him.

I have had him for about 2 months now and today I found his first dropping. He has been regularly urinating the white substance once or twice a week but this was his first number two with me. My question: is this unusual that it took this long?
The first few weeks I had him he didn't want to eat, though that may be because I started with live and also the stress of moving...switched over to thawed frozen and now he eats regularly on a normal schedule. In the past few weeks his feeding has picked up, I think he has become completely comfortable.

I am not to worried seeing as he finally pooped (yay! good job archy) but this is a learning process for me and I like to ask questions!

One more question that has been on my mind while I am posting: I am thinking of switching from Douglas fir to aspen, is this a good idea?

When it comes to how often your snake gives you the oh-so-wonderful (lol) number two it varies. If they are eating regularily you can get it once every 2-4 weeks.

Since you say he wasn't eating at first, it would make sense he wasn't leaving number two's. You only get out what you put in

I have no clue on douglas fir bedding, but I have used shredded aspen before and it works just fine! Just make sure he doesn't ingest bedding with his meals.

Sounds like your doing good so far and congrats on your first bp!

Douglas Fir isn't bad, but I've used Aspen, Cypress, and Newspaper, and thus far, Newspaper is a personal favorite.
    Dude, where did Bob go?

Younger BP's will usually go about once a month becuase they are absorbing the majority of their meals. Sometimes they hold out a while and then drop a monster deuce. My little one held out for almost 6 weeks and then one night I got home from work and there in his cage was Poozilla...

I think the longest they can go is around 6 weeks. Don't worry about when they poo. They will go when they need to. If you feel their butt and its hard, then worry.

Thanks everyone for all of the responses! I feel a lot better and me and Archy will keep learning together. I've decided to go with the Aspen bedding, I have seen newspaper is a very popular alternative but it is just not very aesthetically appealing to me and the aspen seems just as good.

Oh my GOSH how lucky is the person who only has to clean snake poo once every 2 to 4 weeks??? Mine give me a surprise every 1 to 2 weeks! My big girl poops like a doberman!
