I liked my GTP, but the whole situation involving that snake leaves me too bitter to name him as a favorite, which is a shame. I bought him from a guy who gave me a whole long spiel about how his friend in MI breeds GTPs in his greenhouse, and that mine was CBB (I would never knowingly buy a W.C. GTP). It turned out that he was selling farmed babies for Lee Watson as CBB animals, and when I found that out I got a fecal done, and he was infested with hook worms. There were so many hook worm eggs that my vet recommended Panacur and Flagyl, just in case the crazy amount of eggs she saw were hiding any other parasite eggs. I dosed him with both meds for the full terms, during which time he stopped eating, and he was dead within a month after his treatments. It was one of those too good tbe true situations with a good price for a CBB yearling Chondro, so I deserve it, but I'm still bitter.

He was no longer a vendor at that show by the time I heard about who he was, who he was selling for, and what he was selling. And since Ol' Man Watson passed away, I can't discuss his practices with him, either, Although I'm pretty sure he had been called out a few times, and knew what he was doing and where he stood in the business... I must say that now that that show is sort of under new management, the quality of the animals there has gone from tick infested crap to mostly being good, quality stock. It's really a decent show now days.

Well I wouldn't have been able to say any other python but balls until we got the latest Reptiles magazine. I'm in love with the Angolans now. I know my boyfriend would say GTP for sure.

Of course those are two snakes we will probably never have.

I got her as a yearling from a local exotics pet shop that had a nice reptiles section that was run by a kid who knew a lot about reptiles and dart frogs, and whose friend produced the clutch of Macklott's that Cain was from. She grew to about 8' and had almost no freckles, which made her look a lot like a small olive python, which I loved about her. I've actually been on the look out for a similar looking Macklott's for a while now.

She tamed down pretty quickly, and had a great personality. She was very active, had a great feeding response, looked badass, and was just a wonderful pet snake all around.

When my girlfriend and I broke up, I moved into my parents' house for a couple of months, and my snakes were in the main room in their cold basement. I had two space heaters to heat the entire area, and each enclosure had it's own heat, obviously. Everything was perfect and they were all triving. But, there was a bad storm and their power went out for two days, while I was out of town, and when I got back all my snakes had frozen to death. My Macklott's, a pet ball python, three breeder corn snakes and 6 juvenile corn snakes had all dropped down into the 40s and died. I was devastated, and the experience almost kept me from getting back into the hobby, but when I had the chance to buy a pair of het albino balls, I was back. I still really miss Cain more than anything.
Sorry to hear dude, Hope everythings fine now.

    1. Green Tree Pythons
    2. Carpet Pythons (mainly IJs and IJ Jags)
    3. White Lipped Pythons

I feel like I'm forgetting one that I really like but that's just not coming to mind. Regardless, I love arboreal snakes so GTPs get the top vote. (Some day I will have some, for now I'm focussing on ETBs.) Irian Jaya Carpet Pythons are amazing. They're more docile than some other carpets, they're trash cans for the most part, don't get huge, are quite hardy, etc. To me one of the best starter snakes out there! And White Lipped Pythons are simply gourgeous. I can't get over their colouration and over all look, simply stunning. I've never worked with them, but maybe some day.
