Re: How much did you pay for your albino ball python?

I really dis-like these threads. I think it de-values the worth of an animal.

And yes you can get "cheap" animals of any morph, but at the end of the day - are you getting an animal just for the sake of getting one (insert morph here), or because that particular animal blew you away?

As an example - I have seen enchi's pretty disgustingly low priced at a semi-local show to me - where I had to stand there and study the animal, truly study it, to determine that it wasn't just a nice banded normal (or a truly ugly enchi). I knew I wanted to add an enchi to my collection. But not just the first "great deal" to come along. I waited and waited, and I think that my patience (and willingness to pay more for her) really paid off:

Same thing with albinos. Sure - you can find "cheap" (and I hate that word as well - to me, it "cheapens" the animal) albinos if you look for them. But if you want one that looks like THIS (this is Freakie Frog's animal, btw - who I would buy off him in a heartbeat, if he were selling.):

then you're going to pay a little more.

Like Sean Bradley has said on more than one occasion - "Examine the snake - not the deal"

Re: How much did you pay for your albino ball python?

I agree with Robin. I don't ever buy an animal based on price. And please, can people stop using the word cheap in their ads? I would never buy from someone who labels something they have produced as cheap. I put far more value in the animals I produce.

Re: How much did you pay for your albino ball python?

Oh I totally agree...but I posted the price of my snake to answer the OPs question. I know when I was in the market for an albino, I was asking the same. I was not asking to determine how low I could get one for, or to find the cheapest deal. No, I was asking prices to get a range.

When at the show, I found 4 albino BPs in my price range. The most awesome, a female who was more orange than yellow, was the priciest but I would have paid it. Problem was, I needed a male.
The second best albino was a plug producing adult with wonderful pattern clarity and color, but he was entering shed so his colors were dulled. I liked him best and kept going back to hold him and look at him. Yes he was shy, but he was a sweety and a beauty. I bought him because I liked him best, not because he was cheap (indeed, he was second most expensive. The fact that I got the price reduced was a bonus).

And yes, I'll be getting pictures of him ASAP. He is the shyest BP I own, and kind of hard to get good pictures of.

Re: How much did you pay for your albino ball python?

Bought this guy from Mark Petros (ballpythons777) for $500 when he was about 10 months old. I believe he has babies for around $400 now (if he still has any left). I saw less expensive, but I wanted to make sure I bought from a breeder with a good reputation.

Re: How much did you pay for your albino ball python?

I got this gal from Mark Miles for right around 300 iirc. Too good a deal to pass up. Yes I don't normally go for "cheap" animals. But I am poor, and have always wanted an albino, the price was right, and I liked the look of her. Plus I have a lot of Mark's corns and he has always been good to me. Sometimes a recession is a good thing, that and a sale on everything in his store is the only reason I got her that cheap.
