Heat tape connections

I have a new rack system that I am setting up and I was wondering if i can use packing tape or duct tape to secure the heat tape to the rack and that top and the bottom? Or would this be dangerous? I have seen in a Ralph davis video that he tapes the probe to the metal panel over the heat tape and says it works just fine.

I would use aluminum tape that you find in a Home Depot or Lowes. Its usually with the heating and cooling supplies.

The Foil tape will help distribute your heat over the length of the tape. I have one length of flexwatt about 6 inches short for my rack and I used foil tape to extend the extra length and it distributes perfectly for that level of the rack.

Do you tape around the heat tape to keep it down or do you tape over the whole heat tape strip?

Blue Painters tape has been working EXTREMELY good for me! It's Cheap, & Sticks Well! Aluminum Foil Tape also works great, but its a bit more costly, and isn't as easy to use...
