Tub Experiment

Rather than hijack another thread, I just decided to start this one. Basically I've been thinking about what everybody has been saying about tubs, so I decided to set one up and see how it goes. I know alot of people are recommending 32-41 qt tubs. The one I got to experiment with is a 50qt tub. The reason I decided on this size is the floor dimensions are close to the same as the tank the snake is in. Tub is 32.5" X 19.5". Current tank is 36" X 18". The biggest difference obviously being height. 6" for the tub as opposed to the 18" tank. The BP that would be living in it is 2200g, 53" male. Am I at least thinking in the right direction?

Try it out. I use a 41qt, but a 50 can't be too much bigger. It's definitely a much easier size to manage than a 40g tank (judging by the floor dimensions that's what I think it is).

the biggest difference between 50 and 41qt tubs is the width. There are actually 2 different lengths on 41qt tubs. Some are 29" long and 17" wide and others are 34" long and 14" wide. I use a 29" long 41qt for my 1900 gram female, and she does perfectly fine with it. Fed her for the first time last week, and she had no hesitation at all. I think that the 50qt would be fine. As long as he is eating that's what matters right? Plus it will be a lot easier for you to keep the humidity up.
