PAM Questions...

Ok, I got my PAM and I've read the directions, but here are the questions:
1) do you lightly spray everything in the enclosure or saturate it?

2) about how long is the average wait for it to dry, before putting the snake back in?

3) Will it be ok to leave the other snake, which does not have mites, in his enclosure while the other is treated? This one will be shedding any day now and I wanted to wait till after the shed before treating his enclosure.
Or should I just continue using Reptile Relief on the mite snake, and wait till the other sheds and then treat both tanks at the same time?

ans 1....remove snake,waterbowl, and any food dishes(for lizards)
ans 2....drying times always vary more drying time is way better than putting the snake in too early
ans 3....i would treat every reptile you have right now because mites can and do travel....personally i dont think reptile relief does anything to mites

it doesnt take alot of PAM to kill. You need to treat every enclosure, and I would suggest spraying a rag for 2 seconds and whiping that rag on your rack rims and rims of your tubs/tanks or w/e your using. PAM will stay active on any surface even if you wash the surface for atleast 30 days.

the Mites have to make contact with the surface to die. so it may take a few weeks , and possibly months before you completely erradicate your infestation. Understanding how mites live is the key to knowing how to use PAM correctly. if you have any questions, call Bob (owner) of pro-products and he will help you. hes an awesome guy!

Thanks for the suggestion. I just spoke with Bob and he said pretty much the same thing. He said that saturating everything only means it will take longer to dry and is not needed. He also suggested wiping down the un-infested tank for now until the shed is done, because it would be a waste to treat the substrate now and then have to re-do in a day or so after the shed, pee, poo clean-up. He also said that I do not have to remove the snake in order to wipe down the outside. You are right. Bob is very helpful and answered all of my questions. I will now remain a loyal customer... Are we talking about PAM, like the kitchen spray? Or is that an abbreviation for something else...... that is kinda interesting. So if I had mites, all I would need to do is spray my enclosures down and it would kill them off?

Provent-a-mite (pam) is designed for killing mites,not to be confused with cooking oil spray.

Disclaimer:..Please don't treat your snake with cooking spray. While it may make your snake super slippery and the mites might not be able hang on, I would hate to think of the health consequences.


Update: 2 days after treating with Provent-a-mite (PAM), I see dead mites in the tank and none in the water bowl. Hopefully that means the soaking has stopped....

Hey Vypyrz, I live in New Bern, NC also.... Over by HJ Macdonald..... Are there any herp shows around here? I want to see some of these morphs in person but dont want to drive a 12hr round trip.....

There is one coming up Sep 5-6 in Raleigh. It's in the Expo building at the State Fairgrounds. Back in May they also had a Gun & Knife show, Power Tool Expo, and flea market going on at the same time as the Reptile show. All at the Fairgrounds. I was in heaven. It was a redneck paradise...
