    What is a citrus pastel?
I believe it is a different line of pastels that Amir brought in. I bought the Citrus pastel yellowbelly which fathered this clutch from him in Tinley two years ago.

Not to be a hijacker but do all Ivories have that yellow stripe down their back . I have never noticed that before. Then again I have only seen one ivory before and it was from like 10 feet away.

Okay after looking at your Ivories, they have a faint yellow that may darken/brighten as they age. The head and eye patterning looks like it too.

I officially change my answer to Yes they look like Pastel Ivories.

Re: Are these Ivories or Pastel Ivories?

    Rick, Beautiful animals.

The first thing you need to do is wait until the animals shed to be completely sure of what you are looking at. The pics look like animals that haven't had their first shed yet. Second, having to wonder if your first Ivory production is pastel ivory or just ivory is the type of problem that many people would love to have so consider yourself fortunate either way.

My first reaction from looking at the pics is that your animals are NOT pastel Ivory's. Here is a picture of an Ivory that hatched about two months ago:

The snake above is NOT a pastel ivory but it does have a solid yellow line down its back (as pretty much all ivory ball pythons do) and it does have a yellowish hue. That yellowish hue will fade with age. Pretty much all of my adult ivory ball pythons are solid white and the yellow line is very difficult to see.

This snake is a pastel ivory:

The amount of yellow on its head is dramatically different than a normal ivory. Also, its entire body has a very strong yellow hue that is not easily mistaken. The first time I saw it I thought it looked as if its entire body had been rubbed with a buttercup.

Hang on to your animals for a bit to be sure. The yellows in my pastel ivory ball pythons intensified during the first few hundred grams of their growth. Interestingly enough, the yellow has started to fade as the animals pass 1500 grams.

I have seen several other ivory pastels and have noticed a fair amount of variation in them. The one thing that has been consistent in the animals I have seen is the amount of yellow in the head.

Re: Are these Ivories or Pastel Ivories?

    Thanks Colin for the reply.

It will be interesting to see if their heads color up after their first shed. The only reason I thought they might be pastel Ivories is because their heads glow like a baby pastel's head.

I do have an adult Ivory that I purchased two years ago, but I don;t remember what his head looked like.

Whatever they turn out to be, they are staying right here.
    Rick
