Any advice for Daytona 2010?
I was talkin to Adam about going to next year's Daytona show. I've always wanted to go, and i figure if I planned ahead, bought my tickets on an off season month, then I could plan to have a great time next year. The only thing is, I don't want to go by myself. Perhaps there's a group going from my area, or someone would go with me, etc,. Anybody out there who's gone before have some advice for me regarding the show? (besides what Adam already told me: 1. Get a hotel a block or two away, it's much cheaper. 2. Be prepared to stay up really late hangin out with fellow BP netters! )

Re: Any advice for Daytona 2010?
What tickets are you planning to buy off season?
I agree with getting a hotel close by, although others will swear that it's worth the extra expense to be able to stay at the Hilton and just go up to your room after a late night hanging out. I've always stayed at LaQuinta, about 4 - 5 miles out, but that's because I bring my dog with me.
If you get there early enough, check on Friday to see if the parking deck across from the expo are selling any special parking passes for the show, otherwise, you're paying up to $8 a day for parking (and it re-sets if you leave and come back). I spend a ton of money on parking, but I figure that in. I "think" even the Hilton charges its guests for daily parking - and of course, there's the valet service, so you have to tip.
Bring a camera, take tons of pictures - you'll have a blast! Wish I were going this year, but I had to choose between Daytona and Tinley this year.

I am debating on which show to go to Daytona or Tinley. I have heard nothing but great things about Tinley. I have heard Daytona is pretty much like a local show and does not attract as many names as it use to. Has anyone else heard this or feel this way?

Daytona is not anything like any local show I've gone to. There will be some big named breeders there. Some won't be going and will be at Tinley instead. But you will have fun at either!

Re: Any advice for Daytona 2010?
I won't know until next year if I can attend the 2010 Daytona show. There's a high likelihood that we'll be emroiled in a cross-country move around the same time period.
In years past, Daytona certainly earned its reputation for being the largest herp show in the world. However, it's on a downhill slide and is expected to be significantly smaller this year. But even with that shrinkage, I expect it to still be HUGE compared to your every day local show. There will still be lots of big name vendors there and an astonishing variety of animals to see. And you simply can't lose with the chance to party and hang out on Daytona Beach!

Awww thanks, Crystal! I haven't ruled it out yet, for sure. And if we're not in the middle of a move or already in another state by then, I will certainly be there!
