Degei, iHerp, Index Card, or other???

So I went to input my new spider on iHerp and server seems to be down... that's fie as long as when its up all my information is still there... and if it was on my HD and it crashed that would be much worse but which is better?

I know you get what you pay for but I think iherp has everything but a virtual collection of each animal... LOL but which do you prefer?

I didn't know these things existed, and actually bought a good old-fashioned day planner to keep notes... but I only have 3 snakes, so it's not like I'm keeping track of a whole colony. I'm going to check out those programs, though!

I made an MS excel spreadsheet for mine, then found out about iHerp but I haven't really looked into it yet. Maybe I'll switch over once I have hatchlings next year

Re: Degei, iHerp, Index Card, or other???

For free i dont think it can get much better I made a few suggestions and i was surprised to get a detailed response the next day so seems that the admin there are really into making it better... sucks that its down but a little down time isnt bad aslong as the info is still there... maybe they are up grading or not hip to the current down time i'll give it a 9 out of 10... Definately no reason you should even give it a look... i used it whenj i only had one snake and now i have 5. 6 in my care...

When I first got my anaconda, I kept record of feedings/sheddings and such on a notepad, but I stopped after awhile.

I made a excel spreadsheet and printed out a bunch I keep them in a binder and track sheds, weights, waste/cleaning, and feeding. Theyre pretty cool and if anyone wants them just pm me your email and Ill email them to you. Heres what they look like :

Re: Degei, iHerp, Index Card, or other???

I used to use an Excel spreadsheet. I've heard good things about Degei, but it's not Mac compatible.

I use iHerp now. My computer is a laptop so I just carry it in the snake room and enter the information as I go through each snake.

I didn't like iHerp at first, but I've gotten used to it. The one thing I wish I could do is download an animal's into a spreadsheet on my hard drive so it's easier to print.

    Hi,

I'm in the process of moving everything over to degei - I used to just write the info on the calendar.

Degei is also free now and I really like the reports feature and the amount of things you can record and track.
