    Breeding advice

Hey everyone, brand new to the forum. Thanks to BHB for the referral. I have some questions I was hoping you could help me with in reference to breeding ball pythons. It’s something I have thought about for awhile, but never pulled the trigger. I was planning to look into trying to get an albino (have always wanted one) in November/December and work my way into breeding as a hobby and to maybe make a little extra cash. Well recently I ran into an opportunity that I am considering. This would allow me to get 4 balls (2 male, 2 female) that are already breeding age and weight (fems are 1500 and 1600 grams and about 4 years old) for about what it would cost to get them as babies. All 4 are 100% het for albino. I was wondering, if I got these now, could I realistically expect to have a chance for a successful clutch or 2 this breeding season? Also what are the chances that I could actually get an albino? Also if to 100% hets produce normals are they also het for albino? Are there any good sources you would recommend for me to look into/read up on? Also any big tips for a first time breeder? Thanks so much

Also use google, it will answer most of your questions very easily. There are some good breeding guides on Markus Jayne and 8ball web sites.

You dont need two males so unless they come as a set I'd save your money. A het x het will give you a 25% chance at an albino. If you are buying hets make sure you trust the source, there is no way to tell for sure if they truely are hets until you breed them. Also you might get a clutch this season sometimes Balls need time to adjust to their new enviornment though so you might have to wait till next season. Again, you are asking very basic questions that can be answered if you take 5 minutes to do the research for yourself. Google is your friend.
