Weightloss Question
Hey Everyone,
So I haven't been stressing even though Tanveer hasn't eaten for me since about 5/20/09. I had been feeding him 1 med ft rat every 12 days but have since gone to sm ft rats thinking it would entice him. He did seem interested the last time I offered to him but eventually he moved on.
I decided to get a gram scale so that I can keep track of his weight. On 4/27/09 (the day I got him) he weighed 1224 grams on the Petco reptile scale at the register. Today I weighed him with my gram scale and he now only weighs 1167 grams!!
Is this a big weightloss when it comes to BP's? Should I be worried now?

Re: Weightloss Question
For a snake that size, not really. I have had 400g snakes have 50g poos.
What have you tried so far (for feeding). Have you tried leaving a F/T in the tank overnight?

Re: Weightloss Question
Balls go through stages where they will not eat for months at a time. If the F/T isnt working, try live. This has always worked for me.

Re: Weightloss Question
Okay I will try to breathe a little again .
I re-read the caresheet on reasons why they don't eat and the only one I haven't covered is his temps. He has lots of vines, 2 hides (same type), repti-bark, still active at night as usual. He has been favoring his cool side though during the day. I have tried covering his tank with a towel right after offering food and letting him be one with his rat. I have tried dipping the rat in warm chicken broth. I have tried using a blow dryer on the rat thinking it isn't warm enough. I tried males vs' females and different colors. This last time I tried downsizing to a small F/T rat. He actually did check it out for a minute and I thought for sure he wanted to eat but no he then kept on cruising like he had better things to do. I also did leave one in his tank with him overnight but it was there the next morning. Oh and I pre-scent!
I checked his temps just now on the cool side, mid, and warm side above the substrate. The temps are 83.8, 93.4, and 96.4.

OIC! I wondered how you knew when it was going to poop to be able to have weighed it beforehand.

Silly question: I buy most of my F/T rats at Petco. Do you know if they also sell F/T mice? I will glady try one! I really don't want to try live feed.
BTW Thank you for mentioning a "Full grown mouse" because now it takes the guess work out of it for me lol.
