    Light dimmers?

Do they get the job done?I read that forum about you having to keep changing a light dimmer and I was just wondering is this true?I may consider buying one since everyone says they work pretty good.

    Re: Light dimmers?

In my opinion, they barely get the job done. If your room temp fluctuates a lot then you will be stuck changing the dimmer a few times a day. Even with the dimmer, the UTH can still spike at times.

I have used light dimmers and I had problems. I switched to the reptitemp 500r and that was the best thing I could have done. It was so much easier and I never had to change it once I set it. Now I use a johnsons controls because I have a rack system. I have donated my reptitemp to my friend who is a new snake owner Just sharing the love.

    Rheostats are a temporary fix.
Thermostats are the only long term solution.

    Oh...ok

Now I have heard alot of positive things about those reptitemp 500r and do you think those would work on say a rack system of only 3 or 4 snakes? Also, where do you get them?
Also, my house always stays at 73 so would you think that would make me have to keep altering the light dimmer?

A reptitemp is made to control up to 2 heating sources. If you are going to be adding to your collection, which I assume you will be. Go and get a johnsons or ranco. They are worth the money.
