Getting a Mojave...
I found a female mojave in my area that I'm getting. There's a couple things I'm wondering about the mojaves. The female is high contrast with bright yellows, dark browns, and high blushing?
I was wondering how the mojaves turn out as they get older. Do they get darker/lighter? I know the pattern stays the same but what about the blushing, does it fade? I know pastels don't end up looking near as good as they did when they were hatchlings, just wondering how the mojaves compare as they get older.
Also, I was thinking about breeding down the road(at least a few years). I plan to breed this one with my normal to get 50%? mojaves and 50% hets? Then breed one of the males if I get one a couple years later to the female.
I've read you can get a BEL from a mojave, but what is the actual chance for one in a mojave x mojave clutch? I've also read a few conflicting things, some saying that you only get black eyed lucys and not blue, others saying that your particular mojave may not be capable of producing one. Can someone shed some light on this particular morph please? I searched for what I could but it's hard to find a decent answer to these questions.
Thanks

Re: Getting a Mojave...
If you breed a Mojo to a normal, you get Mojos and Normals. Mojo IS a het- for BEL. At least that's my understanding. Someone will correct me if I am wrong! We have two Mojos and hope to make BELs with them. I believe you get statistically a BEL, a couple Mojos, and a normal if you breed Mojo to Mojo. I am still learning how it all works. It is my understanding that like a pastel or a black pastel, Mojo is a codom morph. IE, a visible het...

Re: Getting a Mojave...
Mojo to mojo breeding gives you a 25% chance of a Blue eyed lucy, 25% chance of a normal and 50% chance of a mojo, that is per egg not per clutch.
They get a little grayer/duller as they age but still look real cool.

Re: Getting a Mojave...
^^^^ I love him!!!!!!!! I only hope mine age just as well. My female has a lot of blushing like that one, but the male doesn't. So, I think every single snake ages differently.
And remember, most mojave X mojave will produce a dirty BEL. Meaning, they aren't all pure white. Most have a purplish tint on their noggins. Which, I think look better.
What i would do is produce some baby mojo's and sell them to buy a different mojo. That way you aren't crossing your blood lines. Of course, some disagree that there is nothing wrong with inbreeding (that's how we have such gorgeous creatures). BUT a different snake, from a different clutch could offer so much more!!!
