    Temps for a BRB

I'm having trouble finding out the proper temps for a neonate BRB. Caresheets on the net are all over the place, some say that 90 degree temps are fatal to BRBs, others recommending a hot side of 95.

Humidity recommendations are, on the other hand, pretty much the same across the board, 90%+ for neonates, 75%+ for adults.

I've just finished my enclosure, and humidity is stable at 100% after three hours so I'm good there, but ambient temps are only about 72 degrees with a hot side at 85 and a cool side at 78. I have no idea if this will be sufficient or not.

Your temps are good....100% humidity is a little much though.

I'm surprised to hear that. Almost every source I've read has said neonates need at least 90-95% humidity.

Mine is happy and eating and so forth at about 80-90% humidity plus an extra humid hide, where he does hang out a lot. He's an 08.

I have an 08 also. I keep the ambient temps around 80 degrees and humidity in the 90s. 95 degrees is definitely too much. I try to make sure temp is no more than 85.

    Re: Temps for a BRB

I picked up the BRB today. Ambient temp, about 1/3 of the way up the tank is still hovering around 70

The temp in the hides and on the ground are still fine though. I guess we'll see how she does.

    Re: Temps for a BRB

A quote from Dave Colling's care sheet

They are more tolerant of lower ambient temperatures than many other boids thought they cannot tolerate excessive heat well. They should have a temperature gradient of 75-83 degrees. Temperatures exceeding 85 degrees can be fatal.
Reading that you may want to lower your hot side slightly lower, but it sounds like your temps are fine.

I'll stop worrying about it too much then. It's hard to get the ambient up with only two small UTHs.
