Retained Eyecaps
I know that there are many threads out there on this, but I couldn't find any right now. Anyway, obviously, my snake has retained eye caps. He managed to get one off the other day, bet there is still one on there. Along with the eye caps, he has trouble shedding his upper quarter or so of skin. I thinks that is because his previous owner fed him live mice, and didn't take care of him very well, he has a few scars, and I've heard that they can affect shedding. So I help him with that by peeling it off. Should I not do that? For the most part he is happy, except when he is trying to escape He is quite healthy, he went to the vet for a minor RI a year and a half ago and has been fine since. He eats 2 large f/t mice a week, quite greedily, and loves being taken from his tank. So anyway, back to the point. What should I do to get rid of the eye cap that is remaining? I've heard that I cold use baby oil, but are there any more methods that I could use because I don't have any baby oil in my house. Thanks in advance.

Re: Retained Eyecaps
When they enter shed cycle up the humidity during the entire process to 70%. This should take care of all the shed in one piece.
As for stuck sheds what i do first is soak a rag n let the snake run through the rag in my hands. If this does not work i then take a pillow case and saok it with warm water and then toss in the rag. Put hte snake in the pillow ase tige it off and set back in the cage/tub on warm end for 30 mins. This should take it all off.

Re: Retained Eyecaps
When one of mine had retained eye caps after 2 sheds, I let her soak in a tupperware for abput 30 min., then while wearing a latex exam glove, used my thumb, they came right off.
