    Newbie So far so good

Thanks to all the advice on here on setting up my ten gallon tank. My temps are great, as is my humidity. I purchased the Johnson thermostat for my UTH and it is performing well. I couldn't be happier! My new BP is resting comfortably and is not exhibiting any stress behavior so far. Haven't attempted feeding yet, but will let you know how that goes when the time comes. Couldn't have done it without the sticky threads on how to set up a glass enclosure etc...
I found that the thermostat was essential, like you all said. The UTH reached terribly high temps on the rehostat, even when it was turned to the lowest setting. 112 degrees was where it always ended up! So I decided to invest in the Johnson and just have it over with. Better to spend $70 then to lose my BP in the process. I am now a believer that a good thermostat is essential in this hobby. I've done the foil over the screen to maintain my humidity and it has worked wonders.
Thanks to all of you for being willing to share your knowledge with a newbie!

Emma, here is a link to a thread in which I posted a photo documentary on how I did my glass screen top. It allows me to add or remove the foil to adjust the humidity or increase ventilation as necessary. It works for me so thought I would share...
