    First clutch...Mom is Pissed!

Got my first clutch this morning from a female I bought a couple months ago as "possibly gravid." She was bred with a VPI Axanthic het Albino. 2 slugs, 2 maybes (need to candle) and 1 huge healthy egg. I wasn't expecting much as he said they only locked up once and she traveled across the whole country..but...on to my question.

The female was expectantly unimpressed with being removed from her eggs, and I got them set up and cleaned everything really well and put her back in about 30 minutes later. Since then she's been darting around her tub like she's completely possessed. Its been a few hours now and she's just not chilling out. Is this normal for a short time or did I overlook something? From what I've read from others I should wait to feed her for 5-7 days...is this right?

    Thanks.

Did you also gently bath her with warm water to help remove the scent of the eggs from herself? Does she have a hide?

Bathe her with some lukewarm water and Dawn soap. Rinse her off and put her in a pillowcase. Get her tub out, wash it down VERY well, wash everything in it, replace with newspaper and put everything back.

Give her a good week to 2 week break and then offer a small prey item.

Washing her will remove the egg scent so she can get back to eating.

    Re: First clutch...Mom is Pissed!

Just gave her a bath and cleaned everything again. I totally spaced the bath part as she was busy trying to eat me when I was swapping her out. She seems a lot more mellow now. Added a hide for as well, even though she hasn't used one in the past, I guess it could be different now.

    Thanks for the tips all!
