My first gecko
Before getting my boa, I was planning on a pair of female cresties. Then I started looking into semi-arboreal snakes that would stay 3ft or below, and then my sister happened to find me my Solomon Island Ground Boa.
But I still wanted a gecko, and now that I've transferred the boa to a bigger tank, I had an empty Zoo Med laying around. We went to a local herp show yesterday; I figured I might find something for the snake, but instead found another gecko that I actually liked better than cresteds: a gargoyle

It's just a couple months old, probably a female but too early to tell for sure. I'm going with female for now, and have named her Cirocco. I set her up in Chew's old digs, a 12x12x18 viv, after cleaning it thoroughly. I put in moss as substrate, a bendable tree set up so she can jump from one branch to another, and faux leave cover. Chew never had any interest in the Repti-Cave so she inherited that as well. I put in a combo dish with dusted baby food and water, though I'm misting the glass sides too.
She seems happy in there, still very skittish so I only just dropped her in and have left her alone. I shot a quick picture but am not about to shove a camera and flash in her face, so I'll have to wait to post a better shot.
I'm looking up care sheets and books, and I already know that this tank will be empty in a few months as well, when she's big enough for the next size up

Re: My first gecko
Thanks. Something I can't seem to find is how well they can see. I'm curious about their vision. I have a book on cresteds, it may be in there.

The knob-tails are really cool, too.
Here's another picture, no flash, from 5 feet away using my 75-300 on a tripod.
