Anybody paying attention to this? My son's graduation...

The kids were not being crazy or outrageous. Trust me-- I expect good behavior and respect. This was a bad scene and growing bigger every day. There are numerous videos and links to more info on that page.

It is completely out of control. In 2004 when I graduated from my high school, there was 4 beach balls and everybody was having good time even the teachers too. At one point one friend of mine slapped one of the teacher on the butt and another kissed a female teacher on the cheek. Everybody just laughed and everybody graduated without any trouble.
I feel so bad for this kid.

I can somewhat relate to the kid, my graduation last year wasn't exactly amazing. The adminstration sold more seats than what they had, (and held in the school gym!) As a result of that, parents sat outside unable to see their kids graduate.

wow. I can't believe these people. Give that kid another ceremony and apologize publicly. Who do they think they are?

I graduated a few years ago and they made it very clear if there were any "beach balls or noise makers" they would either cancel graduation or not let those kids graduate.
I don't see what the fuss was about though. Its high school graduation. High schoolers are immature and like to have fun. Let them have their last moment.
That is a really sad story though. You don't do that to a kid who was showing off his achievement to his family. I even waved to my friends and family as I walked across the stage. Everyone does it. That kid deserves a major public apology. That is just unacceptable.

It was really awful. I sat in my seat in shock. My son sat through his graduation worrying that someone would pass a beach ball to him and he would be 'caught' and kicked out. It was very bad....

Yeah its freaking ridiculous. I don't see a single thing wrong with what he did. People just need to lighten up and enjoy themselves a little once in a while. Sounds like your graduation was a blast lol.

I'd post my thoughts but they would violate the TOS and general attitude I try to hold while posting in these forums.
I'll leave it at this: Generally, public school administrations anger me without fail, but this superintendent goes above and beyond simple anger.

Man you know those parents can sue the pants off of that school district. Not that I am condoning the wave of senseless lawsuits these days but I think they owe this kid and his family something. I really felt bad for the grandparents, although they may have just used that line in the story for public support but still.

Re: Anybody paying attention to this? My son's graduation...
There's actually more-- the kid that was removed did absolutely nothing wrong. There is video to show that he didn't touch a beach ball or do anything at ALL. And yet, when he said he was innocent, he was dragged out of the civic center by the sheriff, gown ripped and not allowed to come back or go to project grad. HIs civil rights (due process, etc) were stomped into smithereens. An innocent kid at his graduation. When his parents go public, man, that school board and supt office won't know what hit them.
This is the kid NOT in the article. He was removed prior to Denney's bow/ kiss. Nobody is talking about him. I assume people think he actually did somethign to deserve being removed. But he didn't.
