    ...eh...eggs layed over vaccay.

So...I KNEW this was going to happen.

...I left for my friend's wedding last Thurs morning, and I just returned today (Monday 3pmish). I had a female who was due to lay anytime before I left. On thursday she was on day 32 POS....so ANYTIME. Well I arrived home today and found her coiled around 3 eggs with 2 infertiles kicked out of the coil. The 3 she was coiled around are fairly plump...although they have the 'spotty' look. I tried to up the humidity in the female's tub before I left, understanding that she was most likely going to have to maternally incubate for a few days. However I am very unsure of these eggs. The 3 DO have some veins. I am hoping she dropped the clutch within the last 48 hours, but I have no clue of finding this out.

Never the less, this made my weekend a bit tough to enjoy knowing that this was most likely going to happen.

Anyone have a similar experience? What was the outcome?

Maternal incubation works if the humidity is up to par..

62 days? That's a long time for her to hold the eggs. Good luck with the good eggs. I had that happen, but my g/f was there to check on things and eventually transfer the eggs into an incubator for me.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

they will probably be fine just keep an eye on them. they can as long as they didn't dimple in then they probably didn't dry out.

Right, and my tubs do not hold 90% humidity. That is the issue I am worried about...what was the humidity when she dropped the clutch?

    I guess we will see.

Would the drying out cause them to dimple? The three 'good' ones are not dimpled at all, fairly plump, however she layed them right over the heat tape which gets me worried....I just hope they didn't get cooked.

She will control your "90%" humidity

Give her the ability to change the humidity, aka water.

Oh I see, will she leave the eggs, soak, and then return to the eggs? I have already removed the eggs and placed them in the incubator.

Have you ever allowed your BPs to maternally incubate their eggs Heather? What is the ambient humidity in the tub during this, before they control the humidity? <----did that make sense?

I remember the user Rapture had a clutch she successfully hatched via maternal incubation as well in case you want to reach out to her.

    Re: ...eh...eggs layed over vaccay.

This year my spider female laid while I was stranded out of town with my trucks fuel pump out. She had kicked one out that dried up beyond saving and one more of hers never got veins going quit like they were supposed to. (not sure if that was due to her incubating or just bad luck) The other two while starting out drier than desired have now plumped up and look good.
