    My Tank Setup (DUW)

Well as promised, here is my tank setup for my new '08 1.0 Pastel. I'll also include prices if anyone is interested.

They ordered me two different color hides... They'll both be the same color in a couple of weeks..

Using a light dimmer temporarily until my Thermostat arrives in the mail.

    1. 20 Gallon Long Aquarium with Locking Mesh Lid. $70.00
    2. Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Hygrometer. $22.00
    3. 30-40 Gallon UTH. $26.00
    4. 10-20 Gallon UTH. (Backup) $21.00
    5. Zoo-Med ReptiTemp 500R Thermostat. $29.00
    6. Light Dimmer. (Backup) $10.00
    7. Foam Core Insulation. (2 sheets) $8.00
    8. 2 Cave Hides. $18.00
    9. 2 Plastic Plants. $24.00
    10. Water Dish. $9.00
    11. Drift Wood. $7.50
    12. Aspen Snake Bedding. $6.50

    Total: $251.00

Still tweaking the temps a bit. So far so good. (Just realized the date is off too )

    And the little boy.

    On the way home.

His first meal (bit too small), which he refused. Oh well - next time!

    Enjoy!

    Great set up!

The only things I can suggest are to get a thermometer with a probe to set under each hide, below the bedding. Since most thermo/hyrgo meter combos only come with one probe, you can put one probe on the warm side and put the actual unit at the bottom near the cool side to get more accurate readings since that's where the snake will spend most of its time.

Additionally, your snake is the same size my girl was when I first got her and those hides are way too big. Get the medium sized ones from the same company. They will last you a while; ball pythons like a tight fit for added security and the particular hides you have are very spacious and wide.

Otherwise, it seems like you have your husbandry spot on

Good job, and welcome to being a BP owner!

Nice setup. Where'd you get the hides, and water dish so cheap?

The unit is just like the Accurite so I don't have a problem there. I've the probe under the hide on the warm end and the unit on the cool end. Couldn't put it any lower because the hide would snatch it up.

I know the hides are too big but I wanted something he will grow into. I noticed the hides get reallyy tight in one end and that fits him perfectly snug, he is usually in those corners and doesn't seem stressed in any way. I thought about getting the smaller ones but I'll give these a try first.

I've done my research and know their basic needs; if I notice he isn't eating at all I will then give him smaller hides.

I work at a Pet Store and the owner gave me deals on everything, as well as no tax.

Good looking setup and snake great idea to insulate as well glass enclosures can prove a little difficult to heat sometimes.

The Zilla cages are really nice (I have had 2 before) and I have the same water bowl, very stable, you will not have to worry about any spilled water with that one

Very nice looking setup. I have that same kind of water dish. The medium zilla hide would be a better fit but they will out grow it fast. Putting a little extra substrate under the hide will make it alot more snug.

Yup that's exactly what I did. He seems very happy in these hides so I am not worried - plus he ate today which is an added bonus.
