Tail wagging
Im in the process of building a new tank for my male pastel ball python(his old one broke), so i have been keeping him with my female normal until its finished. I returned him to her tank last night after trying to feed and shortly after she started wagging her tail and musking. i did some research and found out that it has to do with mating. at this point i havent been able to tell if my male has any interest. So basically my question is if shes musking is it possible for her tell that not only is it a male but that hes capable of breeding aswell?thanks for the input!

Re: Tail wagging
She's a girl, he's a boy, she obviously has figured out what boy snakes are good for. Whether he manages to mate her or she allows him to mate her is basically up to them and nature. If she's not interested in mating him then she could be expressing stress with the musking but from what I've seen my females do once that tail is up and wagging they are more interested in loving than in fighting.

Actually, no - it's not a stupid question. I'm honestly not sure what to tell you. I'm sure there are a lot of people in the same boat.

Heck not a stupid question at all! Everyone has to learn sometime and we are all still learning something all the time. That's one of the fascinating things about keeping snakes, you're always learning. Sometimes it just takes time to get an answer is all.

Re: Tail wagging
Thanks for your replys! Yeah im a bit concerned they have been together for a few days and everything has seemed to be cool...they lay together all the time.I just dont want to make the mistake of thinking for sure that she is making advances when the opposite is happening. Also its exciting aswell becuase its a what if situation. I just need to be patient.

That's one thing with owning BP's. If you aren't patient by nature, you'll learn to be.
