I've brought home my first ball python (08 het albino) at the reptile show from 8ball 7 days ago. It's been quite a challenge to have everything close to standard specifications (temp, humidity, tub size, etc...) After a couple of days, I've learned that her tub was too big, based on what I've read here in the forums. So I got her a smaller tub and transfered her, and by the way she's still kind of freaking out. Left her alone until last Friday (DAY 1), where I attempted my first feeding. I wanted to give her a live one so I went to Pet Smart. I had to lie when the sales rep asked me if it was for a pet because they will not sell a mouse for any other purpose. I pre-scented the room for an hour before I offered the mouse. Within 30 seconds she destroyed the prey and finished it in about 10 minutes, I was STOKED! I was not expecting her to eat but she did. The next day (DAY 2), she started shedding, and she also pooped, and urinated. She trashed her tub and I'm definitely going to be busy cleaning her and her tub tomorrow. This has been a great learning experience for me. This community rocks!!! Thanks BP.net!!!
