    Thermostat and Rodent Supply..

It is very frustrating when you own exotics and live in Canada I tell you. I have been trying to get the Zoo-Med 500r thermostat for weeks now and cannot find it. I'd rather not get it shipped as it'll cost me an arm and a leg. Does anyone know of a store that sells this product between Windsor and Kitchener Ontario? No one around Windsor (my area) has it in their stores and even my boss at the Pet Store I work at is having a really hard time trying to order one for me - they're never in stock.

Another question I have is are there any rodent supply sites that ship to Canada? I like rodent Pro, but unfortunately they don't ship out here.

Thanks for putting up with all of my newbie questions.

    Re: Thermostat and Rodent Supply..

Id give up on the 500r, theyre about a hunk of junk.

See if Rich at www.reptilebasics.com can ship to you, any thermostat he has will be miles safer than the Repti Temp thermostat.

Wish I could be of more help, I live in the states though.

    Re: Thermostat and Rodent Supply..

I have heard the 500r's work fine on a small scale and lots of people have had great success with it. I will only be using 1-2 UTH's with it. I don't have the extra funds to go spend $100-$200 on a thermostat right now.

    But thanks for the input.

I believe Rich no longer ship to Canada however you can check the Bean Farm for your needs they do ship to Canada http://www.beanfarm.com/store/agora.cgi

Additionally I am sure some of our Canadian member will chime in and maybe help you fin a place in Canada that sells supply.

That website is perfect except for one thing - they only accept credit cards. I use Paypal.

Thanks for helping me out guys - I really appreciate it. Keep 'em coming.

I have the 500r and recommend spending the money on a Ranco or Johnson instead. It's more than worth it.

If you're set on a 500r though check out www.petsandponds.com

For rodents check out these sites...

I'm using a 500r and I haven't had a problem with it yet I'm only using it to control 2 UTHs. Very effective and easy to use for the price. It seems perfect if you only have a couple heat sources to control and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. I completely sympathize with you on that as well. I don't have the extra funds to buy a $150 thermostat either.

As far as your original question, I was going to say The Bean Farm too. Also, if you're looking for frozen feeders, I found this site http://www.canadianmouseman.com/eng/index.html Never dealt with them before but it's worth a shot Hope this helps!! In regards to the 500r you're looking for, I'd say you're probably either going to have to order it or wait for it to come into your Petsmart. Unless someone knows of a store that has it. Very frustrating though Good luck!!

    Re: Thermostat and Rodent Supply..

I would use the better ones if I had the extra $100-$200 to spend, but I don't. I will check out those websites though, thanks.

And Erin, thanks for your input. I don't plan on having more then a few snakes for a while. And when/if I do, I will invest in a Helix.

Edit: Pets and Ponds offer the cheapest price (around $50 shipped) and will most likely buy from them if I cannot find one in stores. Thanks again.
