help sav
i jaz bought a hatchling savannah monitor last 2 days ago.
the problem is i havent seen my sav tongue flick even once and she always gasp for air. she’s maybe around 3 inch.
is that bad?
please help me she’s my first monitor.
please guys....

may temps are 120 for the basking and hot side 100 to 95 and about 70-85 on
the cool side and the humidity is about 50
the substrate b4 is potting soil.
but i changed it to a newspaper.
i gave him cricket meal worm super worm and roaches. she just stares at them
i use ceramic heater

Well....
If those are in fact your true temps, Try to get your cool side a little warmer. 70 is on the VERY low end. And that hot spot could even get a little hotter.
So with all that heat you are still getting 50% humidity? Kinda hard to believe.
Try misting him down every couple days.
But in all honesty, he is probably a Wild Caught baby...or at best a Captive Hatched Sav....most are.
There could be a number of things wrong from intestinal parasites to who knows what.
Where did you get it from?

she's on a 50 gal breeder tank.

Oh god.....you have a hacthling in a 50 gallon??
Did you just copy those temps off a care sheet?
There is no way 1 Ceramic Heat emitter will give those temps on a tank that big.

3 inches is really small to be a hatchling as they are normally 4-5 inches at hatch and then it takes a few weeks for the babies to be sent to the destinations through a distributor/breeder. your heats off because there is no way to get a good basking area without a proper spotlight. Are you 100% sure it's a sav??
