Basking Spot to high?

My cage I've had setup and playing around with, for my sav I'll be getting in a few weeks, the basking spot is like really hot to the touch. Is that fine?

Well they are 120 F but they just seem hot. But I guess thats how it is where they live.

110-130 degrees is the acceptable range. I wouldn't go under 120 degrees, personally. They need extremely high temperatures to be able to properly digest.

The range you should try to stick with regarding basking spots is 120F min and then you can go as high as 140-160F when the Savannah is about adult size by the end of the year. I don't know where you live but go outside on a day the suns out and air temps are around 85-95F and use a temp gun on some concrete. You will be amazed how hot it can get.

What type of bulb are you using? 'Spot' type bulbs cause sever burns, so watch out.

Your best bet is to buy a temp gun. www.tempgun.com Every reptile keeper should have one.

I keep my basking areas between 130-150 F with no issues.
