Re: Susan Boyle - AMAZING
Sorry, but i do not believe the hype (Public Enemy warned me), you probably know who won this show the last time and now "surprise surprise" it happens again, the ugly goose story... there are hundreds, if not thousands of "ugly" but talented singers out in the world, some still working in the studios as background singers, but a show like this allows the industry to sell even records of these "unpleasant to the eye"-people and exactly this will happen.
It is the media.
She might be good, even brilliant, but I do not trust THIS business...
1.0 Ballpython Pete Townshend
1.0 Boa BCI Bob Marley
1.0 Cornsnake Elton John
0.0.1. Rogers racersnake (Platyceps/Coluber rogersi) Mike Tyson
0.3. Leopard Geckos (1 normal, 1 SHT het. Albino)
0.0.1 Pacman Frog Albino, Tosh
0.0.1 Tockay, Rudy
1.1. Red Oscars (1 normal, 1 albino), 0.0.2 catfish (corys)

I disagree. If you're right she is not only one of the finest singers alive right now, but an actress of oscar worthiness. If she wasn't actually surprised at how good they thought she was, wasn't actually humble, then I am a poor judge of character.
If I could write half as well as she sings I'd consider myself pretty darn good.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Re: Susan Boyle - AMAZING
I agree rabernet, im a guy and I love that video for many many reasons.
1. Beautiful voice
2. Another example of how quick the world judges others
3. And the story of how she took care of her mom as she did and did this as promise made to her before she passed.
The world has many many issues, how quickly we judge others based on many factors limits our opportunity to see all the beauty in the world.

A friend sent that to me... it is amazing! I too watched it many, many times. It is truly great. Do not judge people.

Actually judging people is fine. We all do it everyday.
The thing is, the standards we judge by are often worthless.
A blind man would have found her voice amazing and NEVER had second thoughts about her appearance.
There is a question here for all who have read.
Have you changed your methods of judging people or is it still looks first content IF they pass the "pretty" muster?

Good question Wes....
I guess for me it's a function of being a *cough* mature woman but once I passed 40 I gave myself a gift. I tossed out that damn bathroom weigh scale, I retired my makeup bag to the status of "when I bloody well feel like it", tossed the evil and uncomfortable wire bras to the back of my drawer and decided that being me wasn't all that bad a thing to be.
We all struggle with what society expects us to look like but I think especially older females get the worst of that. At some point for me anyways, I decided that what is in a person's soul, their eyes and their actions is worth a lot more than what good makeup or genetics gave them. It's a very freeing experience and likely one of the nicest benefits of getting older.
On the shallow side, I did think when I saw this lady that someone aught to tell her to not wear dark nylons with light shoes (me being such a fashion plate myself and all that LOL).
