Need help with Cinnamon
Hello,
I hate people who join a forum just for one question but I've resorted to it here. I have never owned snakes before. I raise frogs and several species of exotic tarantula, in addition to crickets, mealworms, and tropical roaches.
I saw what appears to be a cinnamon ball python today. It was somewhere around eight inches and the gentleman asked 50 bucks for it. Is this a reasonable price? I wasn't sure how much these things were really worth so I thought I would ask.
The guy was keeping it in the same cage as an easily 6 ft snake. I know with my tarantulas communal living is possible only with certain breeds and under specific conditions so I wasn't sure if this was in the animals best interest. Didn't look like a great home if you ask me.
Also at this stage of its life would it have to be fed mice or could it eat insects? My roaches are a little over 2 inches long but I wasn't sure if that could be done. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Need help with Cinnamon
More than likely it is a normal, especially if he is keeping it with a larger snake of a different kind because if he paid some $250 + for the normal cinny price you would think he would know about his investment enough to keep it housed right.
As to the other question, no. As with most snakes Ball pythons eat rodents from birth to death.
A great way to learn up on them would be to read the bp.net caresheet and also look up cinnamons on the net to see what they look like.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

I've never seen an 8" ball python, or a $50 cinnamon. A cinny would probably cost about $250 - $300.

Re: Need help with Cinnamon
8" was a guess. It looked very young. So roaches are out, oh well it just would have been convenient.
See that's what I thought about the price. I just don't understand him selling it for 50 because all of the cinnamons I saw online seemed much higher priced. Made me a little wary. Possibly he got it at a reptile show and that is the reason for the cost.
Although it is possible that it just resembles one. I've looked at some pics and it did look quite a bit like the cinnamon.
