Question Down and out because of HR669?????

With all the talk of HR669. I don't want people to start forgetting why they love this hobby so much.

So.... I want to see them your favorite herp or herps and I want to know why. Let see em your everyday visits, the ones you tell good morning and the one you hold before bed.

For me it Midas and Spot

Midas is a dream come true for me I've wanted an Enchi since I first saw one.

And Spot my very first herp and very fist pet that was "mine" not a family pet.. You might as well cut my right arm off as suggest I get rid of him. NEVER HAPPEN!

So now lets see your..Tell me why you love them

Well I have a couple that I would say qualify as my favorites. My hypo bp pair simply because I love Hypos in a big way

This is Watermelon, my favorite Leo. My girls love him to death, and he will never go anywhere.

And my favorite normal, Hendrix. He's always been a big sweetheart, and I love him to death.

Spidey, because hes just so cool! Great pattern, great personality (although a little shy.) All around a good snake.

My favorite Reptile has to be my Hog Island Boa, Peaches. He's just the sweetest little dude, with a stellar personality.

Re: Down and out because of HR669?????

    What a great thread Ed!

Boy is it hard going through my photobucket account and trying to pick out any favorites, since they pretty much are all my favorites LOL, but here's a few....

I guess I have to start out always with Saoirse because for some undefinable reason this snake owns a part of my heart. She isn't our only rescue, she's not the only snake that came here skinny and non-eating and is now doing well but she's the most special to me. Something about holding her now as she confidently yet gently slithers around and remembering the balled up, terrified, skinny snake she once was....it just makes me so proud of her. When there are days that I wonder if this snake hobby is worth all the work and committment, holding Saoirse reminds me that yes it is.

Cara's another favorite. Something in her just makes me go "hmmmmm". She's the normal female around here that I think carries the most interesting potential. Always a bonus that she has a lovely way about her and is a joy to handle. Cara helps me dream.

Grace.....just because she's here and she's our Gracie girl.

I guess I could probably post a picture of every one of the 40 snakes and think of some reason they are special to me but this will do for now.

Re: Down and out because of HR669?????

It would be very hard for me to pick just one rep to call my favorite. Each one holds a very special place in my heart for various reasons. From my first iguana to my currentl recent acquisition of the 3 snakes this week, each one is special to me. So, with that being said, I'll post pics of the ones I have that stand out:

Godzilla - He was a rescue that required constant care for almost a month. I used all my vacation time at work so I could stay home and care for him. We had originaly planned a Caribbean Cruise with the vacation time I used to take care of him. Best vacation time I ever spent and the most rewarding too.

Zena - Another rescue from a girl who had too many Beardies to give adequte care to. This Beardie lost some toes and the tip of it's tail after being attacked by the other Beardie she shared her viv with. Proof positive Herps deserve their own personal living space in order to survive.

Sheba, Simba, & Merlin - These are the 3 snakes I adopted this past week. I never intended on getting 3 sankes at the same time, but I must say, they all have acclimated beautifully to their new surroundings. All 3 are active, have the most docile temperaments I've seen in any snake and are just a joy to have. I spent all day yesterday just sitting in my Herp room and admiring all 3 snakes as they got used to their new surroundings. Even though my wife is extremely nervous and skiddish, seeing me handle all 3 without incident went a long way last night in establishing some confidence between herself and the snakes. She even managed to touch Simba which wasa first for her and a HUGE step. I am looking forward to winning her over and educating her about these fabulous pets, just like I did the iguanas and Bearded Dragons when we first met.

    Sheba

    Simba

    Merlin

Hope that makes sense to everyone. Alot of people find it hard to believe a person can get attached to a reptile and vice versa, but I am a firm believer these animals, just like a cat or dog, can sense a genuine love and compassion for them and the respond accordingly. I look forward to many, mnay years with my pets!
    Later,

    Bri
