Re: This seem ok?
Hi,
Yes they generally know what they need better than we do.
As long as they have access to a good temp range with security they generally sort themselves out. Maybe he will make a break for the hot hide under cover of darkness and sneak back before dawn just to mess with you.

Well i hope that's what hes doing.. Checked this morning and hes still in the cool hide
His body temp was 80.9F inside warm hide was high 80's, hottest spot was 92
Should i be worrying about this?
Thanks!

Re: This seem ok?
Hi,
You shouldn't worry about it unless there are signs that it is causing him problems - refusal to eat or regurgitation being the two most common signs I think.
One thing I noticed you said the probe in the warm end hide was at the top - I normally try and take the temp of the substrate as that's the bit the snake lies on. There may not be a big difference mind you it's just something you might want to check at some point.

Re: This seem ok?
if your using a temp gun remember that the surface temp is usualy 4-6*f lower then the probe picks up as its not metering just the surface temp but also ambient.
with my accu-temp i find that a reading of 98*F on the probe gets me a 92*F spot on UTH/Substrate surface temperature with my temperature gun.

Re: This seem ok?
^^thanks for the advice!
The substrate was about the same temp as the inside of the hide.
So like you know, he ate 2 days ago. He has been in the cool hide the whole 2 days. I just checked this morning and hes in the warm hide
He still hasn't pooed though.
Also, i moved his warm hide a little closer to his cool hide so its not in the lower 90 range anymore, just mid-high 80's. Do you think i should attempt to move it back closer to the heat source or do you think he could move it himself? Hes about 6-7months old and the hides im using are the ones from reptiles basics, the small hide.
Not sure if i should just let him be, or interfere with my worrieness.
Thanks again,
Mike~

Re: This seem ok?
I try to offer one hide over the cools side uth and one over the warm. my cool side is 82-85 and my warm is 92-94.
and dont worry they will lay down a brown surprise for you when they are ready.

lol..i can hardly wait
and im not using a uth, but i do have one hide on the cool side and on the warm. the only reason i moved the warm hide is because i though for some reason it was getting too hot for him..even though temperature wise it wasn't.
Thanks!

Re: This seem ok?
so im still paranoid that somethings wrong lol
He still hasn't "gone". and was back in the cool hide.
I took a pic of him.. to me it looks like hes about ready. I thought that they usually "went" 2 days after they eat?? Its day #4

Thanks!
