    normal bp,, spider bp dead!!!!:(

well came home today after my basketball game to a sad, sad sight, my 2 top racks overheated and seems to have burned my two top racks using uth.. my thermostat i guess tripped and this really sucks, makes me wanna just quit all of it, my wife was very upset as the normal female was her favorite, there skin all underneath was browned out and it seems they didnt bother to move, damn tub was literally melted as well... well now im down to 2 females one big normal girl 1700grams and one pastel female 760grams. this blows a big one,,,, i shoulda stuck with the very small uth as i replaced them all with large uth and i kinda knew they were to big but i didnt feel like the temp were getting to high with the small uth.....

I have had a uth go bad and so has my sister. She caught hers before it did any damage, I wasnt as lucky. Mine melted the bin my bloodxborneo was in. She didnt burn but the effects of the heat and the fumes from the melting plastic took thier toll, she died within 2 weeks.
I now use heat tape that is wired to a herpstat with a probe.
I think you could use uth's if you plug them into a dimmer or thermostat.

Re: normal bp,, spider bp dead!!!!:(

I'm so very sorry to read of the loss of your snakes. Personally I prefer using flexwatt controlled by a good tstat (or a rheostat in a pinch). I also get Rich from Reptile Basics to wire all my flexwatt, which he does for free as long as you buy the wiring kit. I don't trust my own skills with that so I figure have him do it.

Why type of UTH did this damage? What type of tstat? When you say too big, how big was too big? Sorry for all the questions but I always figure in each tragedy like this, if we can learn something from it, then it's something to hold on to.
