    Re: explanation on tubs?? plzz

I only have 5 BP's but I use racks because they are SUPER easy and simple. I will never use a tank for a BP ever again, unless for some reason I don't have a choice.

Tubs are just so much easier to handle and clean. They save TONS of space, I would not be able to keep 5 snakes in tanks in the room I have them in.

Tubs do have a lot of benefits, including:
They are easy to clean, or replace. Lightweight and easy to move. They hold humidity and heat well, and the opaque sides offer less stress on the snake, since they won't feel as if the world is staring at them.
If you have one ball python(or even several) you can use taller tubs, so you have more headroom. Ball pythons typically don't need 'headroom' as they live in burrows in the wild. Snakes that are climbing and reaching towards the top are generally trying to escape(not always, sometimes they just are climbing) and there might be a reason for that.
If you have a properly set up tank, with stable heat and humidity, and the snake is not stressed and eating properly, then you're probably fine.
For myself, I love the racks, since my snakes almost NEVER refuse feed even in shed, they are more relaxed when I handle them and when I open the bin to change water/clean/etc.
    Good luck!

I see a lot of folks use newspaper as the substrate. Can you use papertowels instead? I don't get the paper and I to get hate news-print on everything.

You can get unprinted newspaper or use paper towels.

Are shavings generally better than paper, or is it just a personal preference issue? Which is considered better with belly heat and for cleaning?

my bp loves climbing and basically does back flips off of his hide(the tree stump, not a half log)

the back flips may be your BP falling as they are ground dwellers and are clumsy at climbing.if he is falling you may be risking injury.have fun!

I recently bought myself a 55 gallon tank in addition to my 20 Gallon. I use the 55 To keep my two females Cinnamon and Normal and the 20 gallon to keep my Pinstripe male. Anyone feel like I should tub and separate them all? Im planning on doing some breeding with them in the near future.

Split them up now? or during the breeding process. It seems like a waste of a 120 dollar tank for just one snake if you know what I mean.

Well, considering you bought animals for $300+ dollars, shouldn't you care more about their welfare?

    Split them up now.
