    Cool Side?????

Does anybody knows why my bp is always on the cool side. the hot side is about 85-92 degrees and the cool side is about 72-82degrees depending on daytime. does anybody know why? I'm starting to fear that it might get a respitory infection does anybody have any ideas on what to do? should i take the cool side off so it might go to the hot side?

i would try to get the hot side a little more consistent with the temps try 90-94. maybe he just likes the cool side, they all have there own personal preferences. i have a female that will not be caught dead on the hot side but my boys love it.

    Re: Cool Side?????

Try to keep the cool side at like 82-84 and the warm side at 92-94. And keep the ambient temperature inside the enclosure at least 80 degrees or a respiratory infection could very well be something you'll have to deal with.

How are you measuring and controlling your hot side temps? Maybe it is too hot.

I doubt that you'll get an RI when temps drop below 80*

I'd say you have a more serious chance of RI when temps don't get higher than 78* and the cool end is like 72*>

    Re: Cool Side?????

They all seem to have their preference.....the one thing that is consistent with mine is they migrate to the hot side after eating for about a day or so for digestion....after that they all vary with a favorite spot....

They go where they need to go to regulate....as long as you have a good temp gradient thru the tank and appropriate hides things should be fine....make sure the hides are identical so they are not choosing a good hide and sacrificing temp control for security....if hides are good and both sides of the gradient things should be fine and they will go where their body tells them they need to be...

    Re: Cool Side?????

All 5 of mine hang out on the cool side for the most part. After feeding, they will go to the warm side hide, but by the next day, they're back on the cool side.
