I had a baby this morning!
She was my 3rd baby- I have a 5 year old son who is mine, a 2 year old surrogate son who lives in Paris, and now a 7.5 hour old surrogate daughter.
I've been on bedrest since Wednesday due to blood pressure issues, and woke up having contractions this morning. I didn't want to go in too early because I wanted a low medical-intervention birth so I didn't want to be laboring at the hospital for longer than I had to.
Apparently I waited a bit too long, though, because about halfway to the hospital (an hour or so drive) I had to tell my mom to pull off and call the ambulance. My surrogate daughter, Alex, made her grand arrival about 5 minutes before the rescue squad made theirs! So I ended up having an unassisted, unattended (except by my mom), unmedicated car-birth!
The ambulance brought us in and we're both doing great! Alex's parents met us at the hospital and seem to still be in some shock, but they're thrilled. And she's beautiful and healthy. I guess in a way I got the birth I wanted- absolutely no medical intervention so far unless you count the 2 motrin they gave me!

A picture my mom took- the ambulance crew getting ready to get me out of her van and into the rig. We managed to pull off at a rest stop along the interstate
