Post I just attempted my first breeding. ( Please read )

So i put what i believe to be a female with my 100% Male het pied. Im sure he is a male because i got him from a breeder and got him popped and probed in front of me. Now the snake i believe to be a female because when i popped i got no penes, started acting weird when i put the male in her tub. She pooped and peed and then started leaking a little blood through her vent. I called ralph and he told me females tend to do that when scenting. So im watching over to see if i see any locks. Is there anything i should be looking out for? And how do i know if the snake is a male and not a female? The het pied male keeps getting on top of "her" and "she" keeps running away but has her tail up, venting, and dropping a bit of blood when "she" feels. So can i say im sure its a female and leave them alone so they can make snake love?

Ps. I did start cooling and the temps hit low 70s at night and 85-86 in the day.

Your female is musking. It's nothing to be worried about. I would just let them be. If she likes him they will be locked by the morning. Good luck!!! Very improtant to leave them be if you observe locks.

I know this may be a little late, but maybe you should consider quarantining. Always quarantine any new snake, no matter how healthy. Taking precautions is very important, and is suggested even though the snake may be as healthy as can be. Quarantining should take 3-6 months, which seems like a fair amount of time in case the unexpected happens.

lol I am always late but if you see your males tail under the females tail then you are good to go for the sexes. I have been told (and have observed myself) that the boys like to be on the bottom How old is your boy? If he is younger than expect shorter locks, if he is older and bigger he can lock for what seems like forever! My pastel would only lock for about an hour when he was small (500g) now that he has hit 800g he has been locking like there is no tomorrow and staying locked.
Good luck and hope to hear all went well. Oh and don't be upset if you don't see them locking, some are shy.
