12 burmese pythons, 3 reticulated pythons, 1 green anaconda with another on the way, 9 ball pythons, albino monocle cobra, copperhead, sulca tort, water monitor, leo, ghost corn. Never once has the thought come across my mind that any of my animals could harm my children. If I thought it I would not own them.

I love and am fascinated with snakes.. But i believe that only large breeders with reptile stores/zoo's should only be able to 'display' these animals in a large artificial atmosphere.. To lock up a 8'+ reptile in a box in my mind is pure animal cruelty.. IMO.. Sorry if i offended any of you great snake keepers! But rock/burmese/retic should be able to roam free in their homelands... And isn't this the main reason why great snake keepers in florida have to give up all their snakes? Cause people get confused with a burmese being a pet and then letting it go once it gets to big cause there scared and cant handle it?
No experience with giants. Nothing wrong with that - neither do I.

But I do know that giant pythons aren't great roamers. They don't run down their prey.

There are snakes that roam and wander and expend great amounts of energy roaming and searching. However retics and boids in general don't fall into that category.

You also know that what's good for the goose (giants) is good for the gander (balls)? In other words, are you keeping your balls in a large artificial atmosphere? Do you believe that balls should be allowed to roam free in their homelands?

Or do you believe the great breeders who keep their pythons in tubs are practicing animal cruelty?

Obviously, a strong statement like this one means that you have direct experience with giant pythons. In order to have a bias, you should be so well informed about both sides of the argument that you can have a firm base for a logical response.

Therefore I take it that you have some knowledge that the rest of us don't about giant, family attacking pythons?

Maybe you should share these concerns with Denial - I mean, he has large pythons and a family. Should he be worried?

dont blow it out of proportion.. i think to me its just a 'to scale' thing.. and to be honest.. a little 'nervous' attitude towards.. not 'big' snakes.. HUGE snakes .. and yah that has alot to do with not keeping them 24hrs a day in my home but i have been around them.. and yah, its alot of damn work! cheers

yea its usually best to get a snake when its a hatchling or a juvenile in terms of it being able to be handled well with someone new i my self have a reticulated python and i got him when he was a year old and only about 4 ft hes a great in terms of handling also it depends were the snake came weather it be a breeder or a pet store and so on ive heard that if you take a shirt that youve worn all day prefferabley not a good shirt and cut a good size piece of it up and put it in the enclosure the snike will get used to your scent i myself haven't tried it just something ive heard works
