Snake bags

Whats the difference between the muslin and "cloth" bags? Are cloth ones more of a disposable type used to send out when shipping a snake or selling one at a show? Seems like muslin ones would be more durable and longer lasting.

I want some bags to use for transporting my own collection and I need some for eventually selling snakes. Should I get muslin ones for ones I plan on using and reusing on my own snakes and plain cloth ones for bags I never plan on seeing again?

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Muslin is probably the most plain cloth you can buy.

It is mainly what sewing people use to practice patterns or use for fitting since it is so cheap.

You can reuse any cloth bag but I just use pillowcases.

I use pillow cases also for transporting my snakes. I find it pretty simple to use, and you can keep on using it because you can wash it without it shrinking or anything.

I've been using pillow cases but for transporting large groups of snakes I think snake bags would be a little easier. And I always worry about the amount of air they are getting in there for some reason, even though I know it is probably a completely unfounded concern.

So any word on if muslin is any more breathable or more durable than cotton? I know nothing of fabrics.

Muslin is a cotton. It is very breathable because it is very thin material. Just go to the fabric store and see for yourself

I run a pet product business here in South Africa and we make our own dog/cat beds etc.

I make my own snake bags. I make them with a double inner, a strong fabric on the outside (Denim) and a softer fabric inside (Cotton twill/ sheeting) and tie straps. The bottom of the bag has a pvc base so if the snake pees it does not leak everywhere.

I too have had no casualties. I'd avoid using a waterproof material though, also I'd avoid very rough fabrics as these may irritate your balls.... he he...

For the purpose of snake bags I'd recommend plain fabric (no glitter fabric, fabric with sequines etc) which is not waterproof. I don't think breathability is too much of a concern as all no-waterproof fabrics allow air to pass through them...

i use pillow cases ans i have an laundry ( pull string top) I keep in the truck for when I get calls to remove a snake from a house. since it got a strap t otoss over the shoulder andthe draw top doubles asa way to tye the top to preven them from pushing it open..
