    Adult male Hognoses?

So I was reading up on a few caresheets when I read this sentence: Adult males tend to only take food a few times a year, making them much smaller than adult females.

Is that true? I know females are most likely larger than male snakes because they need to be able to produce eggs and what not. For a minute, I thought that was false but glad I'm researching. It may be false, or it may not. I wanted a female Hog but any Hog for me is fine. Though, I don't want a male Hog growing up to only eat a few times a year. That would make me feel kinda weird.. since all of my snakes eat once a week.

    Re: Adult male Hognoses?

I had a baby hognose awhile back, wish I knew if it were a male or female. It ate good for me, and it ate every week. If nobody else answers your question, I will make a few calls and find out from a guy I know that has a few adults.

    Re: Adult male Hognoses?

My males don't eat as often as the females nor are they as large as the females but they do eat regularly and will get some size if they live long enough.

I've got one male that is at least 17 years old that is only about 20". He eats rat pups, not as often or as many as the girls, but he's good for one or two fatties every couple of weeks from April to October with a few missed weeks when he's "courting."

My male Western Hog is a year old, he's been eating every week. I did keep a light on him in the winter months so he had at least a good 12 hrs of daylight.
