Do dinker projects really pay off?

I know that most of us have a few dinker projects that we have hidden away in hopes of something really cool hatching out. Myself included.

Let me start by saying that 5 years ago, I traded two spotted pythons for two female ball pythons from a guy in Florida. I was sure that they were CH babies but I was willing to take the risk. One died a short time after I received them; didn't want to eat. The other fed and grew but stopped around 900 grams. I finally got her to start feeding again and got her to size to breed this past season. I had my suspicions as to what she was so I paired her with a nice 100% het pied male from 8ballpythons (thanks Adam!) Well, has the clutch started to hatch, I was very amazed.

She was exactly what I thought she was; a het pied!

I didn't get just one but two pieds!

Here are a few post shed pics of the clutch.

The flip side of this is that the whole clutch was all males.

    Aww,

Sorry for the sausage fest - but on the upside they are stunning sausages.

I really like the pattern with the head and neck on the two pieds.

Do you have more dinkers waiting in the wings as well?

Nice! Congrats on proving out that Het!
I had a dinker project where I thought I could produce SuperStripes! This female looked similar to YBs and consistently threw banded type babies that reminded me of Spectors... I even bought a Pastel Ivory to hopefully produce Pastel SuperStripes! Well she definitely proved me wrong! I now will try and see if there is some kinda Super and I call it the Failure project! Lets hope for a Super Failure!

Re: Do dinker projects really pay off?

Congrats dude!! Stopping eating at 900 grams should have been a sure sign that she was a het Pied. Both my het girls stopped eating at 900 grams and that isn't the first time I've heard the same thing. 2 Pieds..Wicked!
