    Already thinking about upcoming season!

I'm already thinking about the upcoming season and who I'm pairing with who. Akina is gaining weight after laying eggs this season. She was around 1300g after laying 6 eggs (she was a little over 1800g when I started pairing her). She is now 1466g on an empty stomach and having pooped. If she laid on May 4th, when could I start considering pairing her up? How long of a rest should I give her?

Sadis is gaining weight like crazy. When I got her in August of 2007, she weighed around 90g. Now almost 2 years later, she's 940g. I will be pairing her with Xefaud, my 100% het pied male. 50% poss. het pieds!

Shane is a little slower to gain weight. She's only around 850g. She will be paired with Auxy, our spider male. I will of course wait till everyone is up to 1500g but its fun to think about who's going to be paired with who.

So for the 2009-2010 season I'm hoping for spiders, pastels, and 50% poss. het pieds.

I highly doubt I could get my pinstripe girl up to weight for the season. She's only 500g (picky eater for a long time). There is no way she'd put on 1000g in time. She's now eating 2 adult mice a week, but I'm going to bump her up to rats next week.

So what is everyone else planning for the next season?

We have three normals up to size or very very close, and we have a het albino that is close, too. Everyone else is too small. Our pastel female, and another normal, will be ready maybe next year. Our pied female, our black pastel female, and our Mojave female probably two years...

So for this year, three normals and a het albino

Normal one will go with Pied male
Normal two will probably go with Mojave male
Normal three will probably go with pastel male- black pastel male is too young
Het albino will go with albino male

As far as thinking about next season..No...I still got clutches from this season to be laid. But in the back of my mind I do know of a few pairings that I will do for sure.

No, I sold my female pastel. I was going to get another morph to work with but we hit a financial snag so no new morphs coming in this year.

I will be trying for Bees next year though. My best friend and I are going to go into breeding together. Well, the business won't be together but we will lend each other snakes for breeding purposes. She has a female spider and I have a male pastel, so not this season, but the following season, we will try for Bees.

Also during that same season, I will be trying for Spinners.

I'm not sure how long you should wait. Will she be receptive/ovulate before she's ready?

Re: Already thinking about upcoming season!

I'm not sure. I don't want to breed her too soon, so I'm wondering how long she should wait before breeding again. I began breeding her last year at the end of September. She had her pre-lay shed on February 23rd, and laid 6 eggs on May 4th. One baby hatched on July 7th. All the other eggs went bad.

As soon as Sadis and Shane hit 1500g, I'm going to breed them. Not sure how long it will take, but they are getting a small rat each once a week. The rats are about 80-100g each. How much of that do they turn into body weight for themselves?

Re: Already thinking about upcoming season!

good luck wit getting your girls up to weight. i have a female pastel and spider around 700g that i highly doubt will double their weight in 4-5 months but i still have: female pastel at about 1000 grams, F spider at 1350g, 2 female double het caramel/ghost at 1100g each. male lesser for the spiders, male spider for the pastels and a double het caramel/ghost M for the hets. and of course some normal females to add to the egg count lol. so for me im hoping for lesserbees, bumblebees, caramels, ghosts and caramel glow. could be a big season for me. good luck with your spiders, pastels and hets.
