Air question / if you do snake shows read this

I am going to be taking a lot of snakes out of town soon for a show. I will probably have 25 snakes or so. I have a BIG Igloo Cooler incubator. I was wondering If while at the hotel I could just put the snakes in snake bags then put the bags in the incubator cooler so I can get them back up to proper temperatures?

I can use some tubs to stop the little ones from getting crushed by the others.. but I wonder if Air will be a problem. If I open it up to air it out every 4 or 5 hours, do you think them running out of air will be a problem??? The incubator is pretty much air tight.

If this isn't going to work, what would you suggest?

How about bags and a cardboard box.

I havent done shows, but I think that the cooler would be TOO air tight

Thought someone would chime in by now.

You may have the option of leaving your snakes on your table. If the temps are ok and you're sure your containers are good, it should be no problem. I have done it many times.

As far as using the incubator, it will be fine. You could open it once or twice during the night if its in your room but it probably won't be necessary.

When I do take stuff to my room I use a regular ice chest and leave the drian uncapped. That allows enough air to get in that I've never had a problem.

Overnight at less than optimal temps should not cause any damage unless the temps are drastically low, which I doubt would be the case.

Bagging them has the drawback of not letting you stack them efficiently, taking more room and time, and you KNOW some of them will poop and/or pee in the bags, sharing with you and all their friends the wonders of rendered rodentia.

    Good luck and have fun.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?
