Stupid question with probably a stupid answer!

Okay, this is a pic of Hades right before we brought him home about 4 months ago:

Now you see where my uber-awesome paint arrows are pointing? Is it normal for those lines on his skin to be permanent. As you can see he looked "dry" when we got him and when we got him home he spent a good 2 weeks soaking in his water dish(no mites,no RI symptoms). Had me extremely worried. Anyway, he then went into blue and gave me the prettiest full shed! I thought maybe those lines would disappear but they didn't. He looks much better now than he does in this pic but those lines are still there. Is it normal? Is it uncomfortable for him? What could it be from? I just don't know! LOL! Maybe I'm just worrying over nothing. He now only soaks every once in a while and it's only for about 10 minutes or so here and there. He spends a lot more time out and about and in view than he used to. Were they caused by something the PO was doing?

I'm aauming those are just creases like you and I have where our body bends(arm, leg, neck). He looks very healthy though. I wouldn't be worried.

I'm not sure if this true or not but I thought I read somewhere that those lines are from where the snake tends to coil. The scales appear to stay folded wherever the skin folds when they coil. I don't think they're a bad sign of anything. Can anyone back me up?

Thank you! I thought that it was just permanent crease lines but I wanted to be sure. And yes he was very pudgy! We've got his weight down a little bit since we aquired him and he looks just beautiful! He was being power-fed XL Jumbo rats every 7 days by the PO and we've switched that to every 10-14 days for a while. He used to have nothing in his tank but Repti-bark and a water bowl. We've given him a hide and some climbing branches and he's much more active now and LOVES to be out with us. In fact he's really a pain in the rear to get back in his viv when handling is over!

It sounds like you rescued that one. It will have a much healthier longer life with you than with the human "power feeder". Sounds like a lucky snake to have you taking care of him now.

He's talking about the actual creases in the animal, not the paintjob.
