Day 51 eggs still not out.

I can see and feel the eggs in my female the original owner says his average for females to lay is about 50 days so I think she is on a cycle. Has anyone else had long lays? Any ideas to coax her into laying?

I take you're taking about laying after her last shed? 50 days is an AVERAGE not a guarantee. My last clutch came ONE day after she shed. Frankly I've never found that 'rule of thumb' to be all that accurate. They will lay when they're ready to lay and not a day before.

Well, the manual says 27-35 days after shed or can take as long as 45. I've personally seen it take a lot longer then 45 days many times and I've also seen it take less then two weeks. My most recent clutch where she laid 1 day after shedding? I was actually expecting the eggs sometime after her PREVIOUS shed which would make it sometime between 60-70 days POS. Like I said, I don't place much stock in those numbers anymore and I expect the eggs to get here when they get here.

Re: Day 51 eggs still not out.

I think alot of it depends on the amount of heat the animal is getting between Post ovulation Shed and laying. The more heat the quicker the eggs develope and get pushed out. In the end there is no exact date. My last clutch came out at 26 days POS. The three prior to that were 30,31,and 33 days POS. I am waiting on a clutch now that all out of wack. The female dveloped follicles late, went into shed almost a month after ovulation. I was afraid she wasnt ever going to shed. Lets keep our fingers crossed the eggs come out on time.
