    "Its Wrong To Own Reptiles!"

YouTube - It's wrong own to reptiles!

I found this video, and I thought is was rather interesting. My first thought was...well it wasn't a good one. BUT, after watching this video, I now have some new perpective and I agree with what this guy is saying. Anywho, what is your opinion towards this?

PS: I feel bad for the camera guy, but give him props for not tripping.

While his message is a good one, we do have a responsibiility to care for the animals we take on as pets, I think he is shaving the ice a bit thin with the simantics over saying i own or I care for. Ultimately the result is that the animal lives at my house in an enclosure I provide, and eats food I give it. This is the same if I say 'I own the pet" or "I care for the pet". The difference is in the attitude toward the care I give not the word I use to describe ownership.

Re: "Its Wrong To Own Reptiles!"

Hmmmm sounds a bit nit picky to me..he's picking apart the word "own" in an attempt to sound profound. My personal opinion is that if I have to pay money in order to receive any item I "own it" other wise I can't prosecute some one for stealing it. If I didn't "own" it to start with then I have no legal possession related rights to that item.

Why its such a fuss to say the word "own" sounds more like PETA talking than anything..

Re: "Its Wrong To Own Reptiles!"

Loved the video, love the guy, love his point.

However, I disagree with him. I have no issues with buying, selling, and trading of reptiles. I have no issues with buying, selling, and trading of farm animals. I have no issues with buying, selling, and trading of any animal in the pet market except dogs and cats. My only issues with dogs and cats are in regards to the sheer number of power breeders who disregard the health and wellbeing of their animals.

You can't support buying, selling, and trading of animals without supporting the idea of animal ownership.. at least I don't see how that is possible.

I believe you can consider animals "property" and still care for and treat them as if they were as good as family.

An interesting note, aussies don't have ball pythons I believe. I wonder if he would reconsider his position on his belief that any and all snakes will take P/K or F/T if he had experience with one of the famous picky eater BPs.

He is walking with a device that mounts the camera facing him...he's holding it with his right hand.

On live feeding, I don't agree with him. I agree with some of his views, but not all of them.
