ASF & Hooded Housed Together?
Just curious if you can house 1 ASF and 1 Hooded together? My thinking is they will either be rat friends or kill each other instantly.. Both are about the same age / size...
If this is a retarded question feel free to let me know

Not a retarded question, but a bad idea imo..
It would be VERY interesting to know how it would work out, but I predict it would end poorly.

i had their cages close to each other and the hooded rats took an asf and ate it, just my experience.

Re: ASF & Hooded Housed Together?
you can not keep them together.
rats will kill and eat other rodents, mice included. I don't think it would be any different with an african soft fur.
its in both animals best interest to keep them separate

Unfortunately for the ASF this is no longer and issue because he is now being consumed as we speak.
I guess I won't have to edit my sig with 1.0 ASF
Thanks for your answers!

Just curious why you would ask the question if you were not going to take advice in the first place? Call me crazy I guess but, just sayin'.

Short answer is no, each rodent species need to be kept separated.
Both are about the same age / size...
If they are the same size they are definitely not the same age and vice versa there is a huge difference in sizes and growth rate between the two species

I offered the ASF to my ball and he did not show any interest so I posted this question. Later that night the snake was moving around his tub so I thought (even though everyone seems to recommend waiting 7 days before offering again) why not try again. I did and the ball took the ASF instantly and therefore I no longer had the ASF to worry about.

Aw jeez. Open mouth, insert foot. Boy, do I feel like an idiot. I misread what you were saying and am sorry. Thank you for being so gracious about it.
Sincerely,
