    Ovulation in Blue?

    So where to start...

This girl is so confusing. Here's the story. She was locked up multiple times (March-ish), we stopped pairing her in April (felt marble/grape sized follicles). She went off feed mid May. About the 10th she started soaking for about a week.

Here she is on the 6/10/09

On the 13th she had golf ball sized follicles and looked pretty swollen.

Here is the pictures from the 14th which we thought was her ovulation and her abdomen was very firm.

On the 16th she went in to blue which we thought "cool, shes right on track". Here is a picture from the 16th.

NOW... here's the confusing part... TODAY (the 19th) it totally looked like she was ovulating with tail suck and everything. It does look very low in her abdomen for some reason. As of right now she is wrapped around her water bowl which she has not done yet this season. Here are the pictures from this afternoon:

So, has anyone ever had a girl ovulate while in blue? Would this be considered her pre-lay shed (IE: look for eggs in 27-30 days)?

Sorry for the long post Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.

We decided to call this as her pre-lay shed and count down for eggs. Shes still wrapped around her bowl and looking slightly swollen. I just thought is was interesting that she would ovulate during her shed cycle.

    Re: Ovulation in Blue?

    The backwards girl!

She is now glowing AFTER what we thought was an ovulation and pre-lay shed. Only time will tell if the previous swelling was just MAJOR building or an actual ovulation depending on when/if we see eggs, or if we notice a bigger "ovulation" and another shed after that. SHEESH, this suspense is killing me! I'm just exited to see what will come out of this who's your daddy clutch. Before we got her she was with a pinstripe and after quarantine we paired he with our mojave, pastel and a cool looking normal/dinker who was REALLY in the mood . We didn't think she was going to go this year then BAM! I really need to get better at feeling for smaller follicles.

The first pic is 6/10, the second pic is 6/25. In the second picture it shows her glowing (basically she looks pale, her gold is very washed out and her head is a lighter shade of chocolate).

I'll keep posting about this girl even though I feel like I'm talking to my self

Thanks!!! Will do! Its been awhile since we last put our mojave with her but he's done for the season. He was fasting and needs to get back on feed and up to weight. I'll try our pastel! He's smaller but was still producing sperm plugs.

    Re: Ovulation in Blue?

Well today was AWESOME!!! We got eggs!! 3 good (1 boob), 4 slugs, a bittersweet clutch.

Day 44 after ovulation. For anyone who is interested here is her time line:

Paried/locked multiple times with different males
    6/15 - Started shed cycle/building
    6/19 - Ovulation?
    6/21 - Shed
    6/25 - Glowing/witnessed another lock
    7/6 - Started shed cycle
    7/12 - Shed
    7/28 - Laid 3 Eggs/4 Slugs

We didn't notice any other signs that could have been an ovulation although its possible we might have missed it.

    Anyway, here they are >>>>

3 eggs (one boob in the middle)

    Slugs

I'll post and update in 55 days!

    Re: Ovulation in Blue?

Good as far as hatching one healthy and awesome normal girl. She hatched out at 75g.

She's a really pretty dinker, nice deep colors and flaming, and eats like a mad woman.

    The father.

Hopefully this season this female will prove genetic as far as her striping and will give us a better clutch. Last season was her first clutch with us.

I wouldn't be sorry to hatch that lovely girl, even if she is a normal. I really love her pattern and coloring.
