    Breeding question

I have a WC male Ball Python who is about 8-9 years old and I want to buy a female to breed him with but the female I am looking at is only 2 months old.

I read that a female can breed after two years if they weigh 2000 grams and 4ft. So by then my male will be at least 10-11 years old, is that too old or will he still breed?

    Tjanks for the help.

    Re: Breeding question

He should be fine to breed. Pythons can live 30 years. Some breeders have females 20+ years old still laying clutches.
Just make sure you keep them seperate, until she is of size and it's time to breed.

She is not going to weigh 2000g and be four feet in two years. The females will safly breed their third winter and weigh at least 1500g.

most of our 07 girls are going this fall, thier 3rd winter,so use thier third winter as a goal, but keep in mind, she might not even be ready then, though if shes up to size in 2010 fall,,nothing wrong with giving her a shot
