    surprise clutch

ok so my female mojave just laid a clutch of eggs. she was due in a few days but then she shed on the 2nd of this month so I took this for the pre lay shed and bumped up her lay date. has anyone else had a female shed a few days before laying eggs?
also I got two slugs and 3 maybe good eggs. they have veins in them but they look horrible. one is half a good egg and half a slug??? like conjoined twin eggs or something. another looks good but has a dark yellow spot on the bottom. I'm not thinking these are going to make it... anyone else know anything about this???

You can read some information about eggs like that between "Are the Fertile?" and "Condensation" on Markus Jayne Ball Pythons Ball Python Breeding page:

    http://www.ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding.html

It sounds like the half-slug egg may go full term. Only time will tell.

Good luck on hatching out some Super Mojaves!

    Re: surprise clutch

thanks I seen that after I posted this. the eggs look similar so I have my fingers crossed. this year has been kinda bad so far, several slugs, all my morphs that hatched were male and only getting 1 mojave out of a 6 egg clutch. so a BEL woould definatly make up for it. so I have my fingers crossed. wish me luck and I'll keep you all posted on how the egg does.

Good luck on your clutch. There was a thread a while back that showed the worst eggs that hatched, yours look good compared to them I will be sending positive thoughts you get some killer babies.

    Re: surprise clutch

    just an update,
of the 3 eggs that were good all are still doing fine, including the ping-pong ball sized half slug one. the half slug one has pattern in it that looks like a mojave. and the other two have no pattern. so it looks like my luck may be turning around.
