    respitory infection effects??

just wondering if a ball python with respitory infection will still eat on a regular basis.. i have a female that i thought had r.i infection but she still eats and acts normal. havent seen any bubbles or any bad stuff around her mouth area..i did notice when i open up her mouth she has some clear jelly type stuff inside, kinda in the back wall by her throat, but no spitting no bubbling so im kinda confused, only thing that keeps me from thinking its an r.i is that she still eating .. please help, when should i take her to a vet if i think she has an r.i infection??

    Re: respitory infection effects??

In my experience the feeding is the first to go when they get sick. Now that's not to say they wont eat, it just means of the few RI's I've had to treat the animals don't eat. Is she whistling or popping when she breaths. Snakes mouths aren't dry they do have a supply of saliva that helps with getting food down the hatch..

The best thing to do is if you suspect that the animal may have an RI then a Vet trip is in order. Only a Vet can prescribe the needed meds and make sure to get what the animal needs

no popping or whezzing that i hear, and ive held her for almost 30 minutes and no spitting or bubbles, what freaked me out was when i opened her mouth to inspect, i saw some jelly stuff in her throat and alittle bit of bubbles.. nothing bad but kinda got me scared!!!

Sounds like saliva to me. If you don't notice any symptoms of an RI then she most likely doesn't have an RI.
